Why Florida Could Be Huge

I could learn to hate Jay Cost. Why Florida Could Be Huge is another well thought out look at presidential politics. This type of thinker could be good for Republicans.

GOP Debate Analysis

I've  gone ahead and listed 3 different analysis of the GOP debate last night. The first Romney, Others Swing at Perry in GOP Debate is probably the most balanced of the bunch. Next Rick Perry, Mitt Romney Stumble is the view from the left. Finally Trained Romney Outduels Perry is the look from the right. Same debate three different slants on it.

The Social Contract

The Social Contract is a nice rebuttal of the screams of class warfare coming from the right.

Endless War Now Free on Kindle

An excellent look at relations between Islam and Christianity, Endless War: Middle-Eastern Islam Vs. Western Civilization is now free at Amazon. This book is a good read for anyone wanting to get a good base under them for understanding, or criticizing, what is currently going on in the Middle East. Usually 27.95 so take advantage now.

Shooting From The Lip

In Shooting From the Lip the author uses zero real reasons that the republican candidates need to do anything other than what they are doing. Waste of space.

Finally in GM & Chrysler Bailout a Success for Obama E J Dionne makes the right points instead of wasting our time like he usually does.

Obama's plan: Americans must share pain of debt reduction.

Obama's plan: America must share the pain is a nicely written look at a more centrist position. A little whining but not as much as usual

Do Nothing Democrats

Another attack article from the Wall Street Journal, Do Nothing Democrats takes the natural give and take of politics and makes it seem like party treason.

Light Bulb Saga Illuminates New Republicans

Light Bulb Saga Illuminates New Republicans was posted at Bloomberg, where it pissed off the right as they missed her point that you can still buy any type of light bulb you want. The real problem with this article is the piling on it does. The good part is early and in the part where she points out that the man who wrote the light bulb legislation is now against it.

Are We Going to Roll Up Our Sleeves or Limp On?

Are We Going to Roll Up Our Sleeves or limp On? is another piece on centrist whining saying both parties are crap and they should do it our way instead. Right.

Would Gore Have Won Without Electoral College?

Nate Silver's new post Would Gore Have Won Without Electoral College is actually a geeks look at the differences between the Electoral College and Popular Vote, and what type of differences it would make in election strategy. Cool graphs

The Fight Back Plan

A counter attack column, The Fight Back Plan is simply the Democratic response to the Republican response to the President's plan to raise taxes on the rich to help offset the need for a jobs plan. Politics as usual.

A Promise of War

The real title of the article is The Coming U.N. Debacle. After reading this article I came away with the certainty that if the U.N. resolution making Palestine a state passes, then Israel would be left with no options but to go to war in the near future. This could be dirty and ugly, and Israel will not hesitate to make sure they are safe. What I always try to remember about Israel is that the people who settled there were the ones who came out of World War II with a conviction that they would never back down from anyone ever again. The country's slogan might as well be fight or die. Jews who came to America were tired of fighting and just wanted someplace they could feel safe. Think about what that means and pray this resolution doesn't pass.

Wow!

The latest Gallup survey to come out says that Americans believe that half of every tax dollars is wasted. Wow! No wonder people keep electing those who promise to cut the budget. I think a little real information would go a long way. In that spirit here is a link to The President's Budget for Fiscal Year 2012 for Kindle. Please show me the 51% waste. I dare you.

Doom!

Doom! is so negative that there is no other place for this than ugly. Yesterday someone compared are current predicament to the 1890's, today our author is comparing it to the early 1930's. the scary thing is both could be right. The sad thing is this one feels more right, in that the problem is global, not local. It also makes sense that when the economy is bad all over that austerity, while right when yours is the only economy suffering, is wrong when lots of economies are suffering. that we haven't hit bottom ye t is a very scary thought.

Very Different College Ranking System

This link Washington Monthly College Guide 2011 will lead you to a whole issue of a magazine dedicated to rating America's colleges from the viewpoint of what they contribute to the strength of our country. Different viewpoint and well worth poking around in.

This Man is Dangerous

the author is Michael Barone. the article is called As President, Obama Acts as Shop Steward in Chief. The danger, people still believe that a movement that is only 7% of the current private workforce is causing the economy to have problems and still needs to be beaten into the ground until dead. this is called piling on and causes hatred in sports on a regular basis. Quit beating on the corpse would you?

Can Obama Calm Democratic Panic

With friends like this who needs enimies. In E.J. Dionne's new piece Can Obama Clam Democratic Panic he once again proves that he is a nothing more than a modern day troll trying to muckrake his way to another paycheck with little research and less truth.

Cynicism: The GOP's Most Destructive Weapon

I was tempted to put this in the good section, but Cynicism: The GOP's Most Destructive Weapon is so partisan that I am sticking it here instead. There is a lot of truth in what he writes, but I can't put all the blame in one place, or believe that people have really given up that much hope. If people really had that little hope they wouldn't be so angry over what is happening. Then again why are people not angrier? Has cynicism really taken over our national psyche, and that is why nothing is really getting done. A firm belief that government won't help, and nothing an individual does makes any difference anyway. Hard questions, I hope that the answer is not a bad as Mr. Reich thinks it is.
